Diljit Dosanjh to Attend Met Gala 2025 as Guest of Honour :
Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh will be seen at the prestigious Met Gala 2025 on May 5, not just as part of the red carpet but he has officially been invited for the exclusive event. According to an insider source speaking to India Today, Dosanjh will be the guest of honour of designer Prabal Gurung, with other top Honour attendees including Hollywood big wigs Tessa Thomspon and Nicole Scherzinger. Dosanjh will be the only Indian actor to have keynote access to the Gala along with other international stars. In a special nod to Dosanjh's Punjabi roots and India's culture, he will also wear a custom-made Indian traditional royal attire made by Gurung in a gesture that will celebrate Dosanjh as well as India's history and tradition.
Among the Indian names, Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and actress Kiara Advani makes their Met Gala debut and share that they will rule the Met's iconic staircase too. Though, as of now they’re only confirmed to walk the red carpet, with a spot in the ceremony still pending. Khan will be styled by Sabyasachi, and Advani by Gaurav Gupta. This will be Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ fifth Gala appearance. The Met Gala – otherwise known as the fashion world's Oscars – is the starry fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Vogue’s Anna Wintour curates the event, and personal invitations from a designer or the organizers are required just to get in, even for prestigious celebrities.
Dosanjh’s collaboration only goes to show that Indian talent is making its place on the global fashion and cultural map. In another sense, it’s a glorious day for Indian fashion, with Gurung — who has long championed the cause of making the South Asian visage more visible, styling one of India’s most iconic figures in a look that’s achingly traditional.
