Actor Jiiva's successful comeback series seems likely to continue with reports suggesting Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil 2 is going to be the landmark 100th production from Super Good Films. The sequel, which people have been waiting so long for and is supposed to be the 99th film from that banner will move ahead after production of a Vishal-starrer Magudam (which appears to be the next release) is over around October 2023. Director Nitish Sahadev is also expected to return for the sequel, according to industry sources. The follow-up is expected to pick up where the original film left off, with discussions of its script and plot so far having begun.

Rivalry is expected to again centre around Jeevarathanam, the eponymous village president whose cavalier approach to problems and comic repartee charmed audiences. That mix of humor, leadership and emotion was instrumental in the first film's success. Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil has been one of the unexpected box-office hits of 2023. The film received a global gross above ₹40 crore and gave Jiiva's career a much-needed boost reportedly getting both audiences and critics talking. On the other hand, Jiiva's upcoming slate of films remain occupied. The actor also has a new project with production house Lark Studios, where he plays the lead. Venkat Raghavan will direct the film and Sukumar will handle camera work. The shooting is likely to begin around Madurai next months.

Jiiva has wrapped up his portions for Jollya Iruntha Orutthan (JIO), a comedy entertainer film involving collaboration with Rajesh. Production finished in March, and the film is still in post-production as it heads into theaters. With multiple films moving forward together and likely a follow-up to one of his most recent hits, it seems Jiiva is heading into the busiest and possibly most rewarding chapter in his career.
