Salman Khan Moves Delhi High Court Against Kala Hiran :

The Battle for Legacy - Bollywood actor Salman Khan moved to the court, trying to prohibit a release of the film claiming violation of his right of personality. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued notice to the producer Amit Jani, Jani FireFox Films, director Bharat Shrinate, casting director Akshay Pandey and others. Further hearing in the case is on June 19. Salman Khan advocate Nizam Pasha said a promotional poster published May 29 showed a "character very similar to the actor". He also noted that the character was shown wearing a similar bracelet worn by Khan, which has been associated with the superstar for decades.

The petition states that the promotional material of the film violates an order passed by a Delhi High Court dated December 11, 2025 which protected Khan's personality rights. Counsel submitted that the filmmakers had registered his recognizable elements of public persona without approval. At the hearing Pasha told the court that while assurers had not stated a release date for the film, its trailer was given out on Friday in spite of reports weeks ago that it will be delivered on June 20. The defence team also drew reference to a blackbuck poaching case that is part of the wider story surrounding the film. The court was informed that four FIRs were lodged in connection with the matter. Out of the total 5 cases against Salman Khan, he has secured acquittals in three and proceedings in the fourth matter is still pending before courts but no operative order exists as of now.

The counsel argued that the filmmakers were trying to monetise Khan, and exploit his identity and public image for profit. This led the actor to file for an injunction on the release of the film until the legal matters are clear. When Judge Dunn probed about the release calendar, Khan's attorneys respectfully responded by claiming that no official release date has been made available to the media by producers. Salman Khan said in his petition that the promotional materials of the film carry clear references to him right from its title. The filing claims the character from the posters is virtually identical to him, and includes visual trademarks - including a trademark bracelet - that constitute part of his "celebrity identity." He maintained that the unauthorized use of his likeness, image and recognizable characteristics infringe on his personality rights and legal protections otherwise available to him and that he sought a judicial decree.
