There is a Bollywood version of the Ramayan helmed by Nitesh Tiwari which fans have been looking forward to. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi has been finalised for the role of Sita. Meanwhile, there are reports surfacing on social media that Kajal Aggarwal is also part of the star-cast of this film. Kajal will be essaying the wife of Ravana who will be portrayed by Yash, reports India Today. Kajal has already begun shooting for the film, which is reported.

A source told India Today, "Mandodari's role is important in Ramayan. For that, the filmmakers had to pick an actor — an actor with an established body of work who could emote and express and not be overshadowed by Yash. A production source said: "The producers wanted a powerful character, with a strong screen presence, that was also forceful in the languages. "Many actresses were being considered to replace Trisha, Bollywood andhra actress Kajal Aggarwal was the best option then, as she has a good market in Bollywood and Tollywood. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan stars an ensemble cast with the likes of Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Ravana Yash. The movie also stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles. It is slated to release in two parts, with the first part will release on Diwali 2026 and the second in 2027. Speaking to Hindustan Times, producer Namit Kapoor said that his team is aware of the need to get the story right. “We are looking at this with a lot of love and respect. Such is a rare opportunity and it is a defining moment for India."
