Single Movie Review Sree Vishnu Shines in Comedy Role :

In “#Single,” bank employee Vijay (Sree Vishnu) immediately falls for Purva Nettem (Ketika Sharma). Harini (Ivana) goes behind Vijay as he tries to woo her. The narrative proceeds as Vijay comes to know about Harini and Purva learns about Vijay. Vyavastharame Sivani fame Sree Vishnu is back with his comic timing in full fledge by using all the favorite dialogues and memes. Vennela Kishore accompanies him, and both of them occupy the screen with hilariously entertaining moments. Ketika Sharma, in a more low key, devoid of glamour role, does a good job. Rather, Ivana plays a tomboyish role attempting to win Vijay over. Their scenes together are powerful.

The comic scenes involving Sree Vishnu and Vennela Kishore make us laugh outright and the film never becomes dull despite lack of a proper plot to put forth. VTV Ganesh is entertaining in his scenes and rest of the star cast does their job decently. Sure the comedy works, but there is no thread holding the nonsense together. “#Single” leans heavily on the comedic moments — they’re effective but would have landed harder with a more substantial story underneath. (I just watched the trailer Finally wishlisted it) Both parts of the film began pretty well but a very sluggish screenplay (in content) they got spoled.

The roles of Ketika Sharma and Ivana, the two leading ladies, could have been written with some depth. I wished the film had been more sequential and cohesive, which would have made it more enjoyable. VTV Ganesh could have done more. The occasional sentimental picking of Rajendra Prasad amidst the comedy kind of is misplaced. The songs themselves are meritless and unmemorable, and forgotten by the time the film concludes. Director Caarthick Raju achieves his goal of making the film with comedy, but not in story development. The script was a little cheesy. Cinematography and score are good. KL Praveen’s cuts are alright, we wish Praveen had cut few scenes in the second half which could have helped the film. Production seems high so far. To sum it up, #Single is a decent entertainer with some good laughs coming from the funny and entertaining act by Sree Vishnu and Vennela Kishore. Ketika and Ivana do their jobs well. But just a slightly dull story and a few seemingly unnecessary scenes made sure that the movie isn't as interesting as I think it could have been. For comedy fiends, it’s a weekend must-see.
