Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd, also one of the co-producers, is apparently hitting a few snags in its partnership with Lyca Productions. It also raises questions about the film's timely release. Lyca Productions has lost some ground after their previous films like 'Lal Salaam' and 'Indian 2' performed below expectations. Furthermore, 'Vidaamuyarchi' and 'Vettaiyan' also failed to create magic. According to sources, Lyca Productions could back out on the project for a certain financial amount. Now it seems like Sree Gokulam Movies has replaced Lyca who had partnered with Aashirvad Cinemas to ensure the film gets released as planned.

'Empuraan' is the second part of 2019 action thriller 'Lucifer'. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film stars Mohanlal in the lead. With Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier. The dubbed version of 'Lucifer' is available to watch with an OTTplay Premium subscription. On release, 'Empuraan' will fall into the category of the great action thrillers of Malayalam.
