Parvathy Thiruvothu Says She Faced Death Threats and Lost Film Opportunities :
Parvathy reveals how women stood by her in the facing in Indian Film Industry. The highly-successful actress claimed her stand caused many major film deals to dry up for her, and was subsequently subject to vicious social media abuse. Recently, in an interview, Parvathy revealed that when she had spoken against atrocities in the industry she was flooded with many threats of rape and murder. She said that, despite the difficult personal circumstances she faced, her family and close friends provided unshakeable support throughout such a challenging time.
As soon as the controversy erupted, Parvathy claims her parents, brother and a handful of close friends supported her through vicious backlash and threats. Their encouragement she described as a bubble wrap, protecting her so that she would continue speaking. The actress also talked about her association with Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) and said that a bunch of women had there to support each other. That experience made her realise that not everybody has the same access to emotional support, empathy and understanding. It is also worth mentioning that Parvathy had no desire to be associated with talent who abuse their position or power, because it really gets on her nerves. She insisted that if such people wish to comment upon her work, she should have every right to judge their actions and behaviour.
She also spoke very vigorously against exploitation saying that she would continue exposing those who abuse their power and profit by subjugating others. Accountability is still very much part of the agenda and one that she intends to keep exposing when warranted, she added. Parvathy on the work front has various projects in her kitty. She favoured Prathamadrshtya and I Nobody as her next films. She also has a web series titled Storm lined up with Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rama Sharma and Saba Azad playing pivotal roles.
