Thudarum Becomes 4th Highest Grossing Malayalam Film :
Mohanlal's Thudarum goes down as the fourth highest grossing Malayalam film so far. Helmed by Tharun Moorthy, the film has performed terrifically well at the box office, raking in a huge Rs 87.25 crore in two weeks. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, the film bagged Rs 3.75 crore on its 14th day. This makes Thudarum bigger than two of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters of 2024 - Fahadh Faasil's Aavesham that had its final tally at Rs 85.15 crore and Prithviraj Sukumaran's critically acclaimed The Goat Life that mopped up Rs 85 crores.
Even though both films were appreciated for both performances and script, Thudarum seems to have clicked with the masses. There’s a mix of both old and new nostalgia in the film and also some mass elements greatly inflected by Mohanlal himself. Thudarum ' s release day was marked by an excellent collection of Rs 5.25 crore, which grew substantially over its first weekend to reach Rs 8.6 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.5 crore on Sunday. The movie continued to do well through the first week with an overall earning of Rs 54.1 crore.
No more records left. Just one name: Mohanlal.

The second week was consistent at the box office, with Rs 5.4 crore on the second Friday to Rs 7.5 crore at its peak on Sunday. On day 14, it earned Rs 3.75 crore, taking its total to Rs 87.25 crore. Aavesham and The Goat Life worked well at the box office on strong word of mouth, Thudarum was aided by Mohanlal's dedicated demography and family-oriented subject attractive to multiple age groups. This status has placed Thudarum below 2018, L2: Empuraan, and Manjummel Boys on the list of highest-grossing Malayalam movies of all time. As the film runs on, trade reports hint that the Rs 100 crore mark is also within the realms, a rare feat for a Malayalam movie.
